Ok silly question here, ya I am a blonde

Will burning at higher speeds lower the quality of the back up in the terms of how long the backup will last over the years?

Or does that not make a difference?

here's a premium tyg02 that was abused before burning, it's been in a paper sleeve for over a month

burned at 12x(burn never reached over 8x) some dummie was downloading to the same drive

@PA that high mountain is probably a bad disk not firmware

          still a keeper tho

            EDIT:

After very closely looking at the disc there seems to be a flaw with that disc there is a small spot almost like a scratch but not from the outside its bowed up like from the inside out. And that is where the burning stopped. Must have just been a bad disc I will try again.
On a recent 100 stack of TYG03's there was about 3-4 that had dimples that all failed, after the second I knew what the issue was ....

@Chewy, I did get ONE that failed and I could not see any imperfections, this was on the new AMD build .... those past Alien (PC) burning issues are haunting ....

Cool so as long as the burn has a good quality I am good to go even at high burn speeds?

                  Thanks for that input.

( I just want to make sure that I have my backups a year from now.) LOL

key words are premium and cake box, more protected and also sorted and labeled in cake box

value line is more of a gamble, the tyg01 value line was the best tyg last year, long gone, production increased later, quality suffered

Shoot I want my backups to last 10-20 years ..... as for speed of burns, cHewY got me hooked on 8X burns ..... before that I was always running MAX and getting 5-6 min burns .....

They are on the way thanks.

Looks like the firmware upgrade did the trick:

                        Burn 3 at 12 X

                        Thanks guys!

burning the tyg03's @ 8x gave me better results. For some reason the tyg02's love to be burned at 4 and 8x(for me any way)

I will give 8X a go next and see if there is a difference.

tyg02 is best at 8X, my benq overrode me and imgburn overspeed and went ahead and burned at 8x anyway

                              BR7,
your litey and mcc 004 might burn better at 12x than 8x tho

burning the first disks at 12x extends the learning curve for the benq
