I hear ya, that's probably the 150th burn on that burner.....just got back from a buddys house in a suburb near by, he scouted some walmarts for me in his area and picked me up another shw-160p6s for $32 on clearance. He also used his contractors discount card at his local sears and picked me up the only 3-50 packs of sony mij's they had. $18 per spindle....so for now I'm sittin ok!

    @Night, thanks!!

@doctor.....hahahaha, that's not the first time I've seen that done around here, guess if they don't check the return, it's their own fault!

        Can someone interpret these please

I have burned Blood Diamond on both TYG02 and Verbatim. Both are -R, 8x Full hub printable disk. I did a disk quality scan on each, but I don't know what I'm looking at. Is a lower number on the bar graph better than a higher one? Would someone please interpret these scans and tell me which brand of disk produced a better burn? Note: the TYs are the first pair of pics, Verbs are the second two. Also, for those interested in printable media. The Verbs seem to produce a slightly sharper printed image than the TYs, and I do mean slightly. I think it's because they have a whiter printing surface. The Verbs have a smaller inner diameter so be sure to set it at 20mm or 21 mm. The Verbs feel thinner then the Tys, a little more flimsy if you will. At any rate if somebody could tell me which burn is better that would be great. Thanks

From what Chewy has told me, the lower the PI Error average and PI failure total, the better. Seems to me that the TY is a much better burn. IMO

Were they both burned at the same speed? and scanned at the same speed?

the verb was a good burn, but the TY was 8 times better

of course beach posted one burn that was 8 times better than your TY

Night once said when pif total is above 10,000 then it's a bad burn
1,000 to 10,000 ok burn, 100-1,000 good, anything less than 100 great

                YMMV

Thanks guys for the quick response. Great, the TY had a superior burn, thats what I was hoping for. So the key factors are lower P.I. Failures total and lower P.I. Errors Average, I got it. Both were burned at 4Xs and scanned at 8Xs.

                    Scan Speed

@IPAULO....My burners like 4x speed with TY02 MIJ media, and I always scan at the speed I burn, may take a lilttle longer, but the results have been good so far!

                    check out these scans

I appreciate these posts, kind of locks up the discussion on which media is the best, verbatim or taiyo yuden. At least with single layer that is.

Thanks for the tip beach. Rescanned at 4Xs (same as burn speed) there is a sight improvement with the TYs, and the Verbs improved by about half on the P.I. Errors Average. These were scanned by version 4.7.5.0, I mention that because in another thread some say they like the older version more. Guess I'll be sticking to the TYs for now anyway. That good because thats what I have more of.

you shouldn't compare averages between versions of cdspeed since the calulation changed drastically, just from disk to disk with the same version of the program

No problem IPAULO, the Verb scan definately improved! I'd stick with the TY's too.

The new version of cd speed didnt seem to alter the results of my lite-on scans that much, so either will work for me. Chewy told me that the newer version is most likely more accurate on the PIE average, so I'll stick with it.

I've been getting terrible scans lately so I blew out both of my drives with some canned air and tried again. These are the best scans I've had in about 2 months.
