Seems I got a rare bad disk in my Verbatim (MCC 004) spindle. The Disc Quality below shows the problem areas. Funny thing is I can't find anything visually wrong with the disc.

The very next disk on the spindle came out great as usual. Scan is below.

Both discs burned @8x with Samsung SH-S182D (SB05).

expect a few more in the spindle, I had some and then a few disks that scanned good but wouldn't even play in a SAP

Good to know. I will certainly keep a close eye on every disk after catching that one. See how the next few turn out.

I had the same problems in certain spindles of Verbatim media. Some boxes contains perfect discs, and other boxes have the same PIF spikes in the same position for almost all discs.

These bad batches are really annoying

Here's a scan of the RitekF1's (Maxell 16x) I've been using. This is my first scan post. What should I look for? I do have TY for burns too.

lower your scan speed to 8X with that burner, it should reduce the amount of PIF's a little

for so so media, that's not a bad burn

Soup, with TY you can burn any way you like but the disc is the disc it self it will move up and down a few hundreds within a spindle but they are always very good, PIF up and down a little does not mean any thing with Ty

Thanks NightTran, appreciate the input. I am reaching the end of a 50 pack spindle. The one @ Max reached 8.2X as the discs are rated @8X.

Dog hair, quite possible It looks clean. The burner is a year old this past Feb, but I use it quite a bit. I wouldn't know how to check the power supply.

Well, looks like I lucked out with this spindle of Verbatims. After posting that bad disk I seemed to get, I have used at least a dozen and they seem to get better as I dig down the spindle.

TY 8X +R's burned @ 8X and scanned at max...don't know how the speed got changed but it used to be set on 8X. I might rescan at 8X. Anywho, both burned with BenQ 1655 and scanned with same.
