@soup, how I get those features Smartburn, Hypertuning and Overspeed. The only disk in the box was Nero 7. Do I have to download those features? Also, do you think that flash is real necessary, as it seems it's only needed if you want to be able to burn several brands of media. I did one TY02, seems to have burned pretty good. Thanks

      ipaulo,
try to leave drive at default at first and test, save the png's tho, the first 2 burns the drive will be "learning" the media
it should settle out about the third burn
please post some scans so we can compare to soup's

I would do as Chewy suggests, then post back & I will give you a link to SmartBurn etc. Right now all I use with this drive is SmartBurn 3.16t enabled only no hypertuning etc, & 9L07 FastBurn firmware which only kicks in for 8X & 12X burns. The following times etc are with ImgBurn. Lead in is 46 seconds for all.

        LH-20A1S, 9L05 Stock, original SmartBurn 3.16.

        8X: Reached @ 26% of burn / Average = 7.5X, Maximum = 8.2X / burn time = 8.21.

        12X: Reached @ 85% of burn / Average = 8.9X, Maximum = 12.1X / burn time = 7.11.

        LH-20A1S, 9L05 FB, SmartBurn 3.16t.

        8X: Reached @ 10% of burn / Average = 7.9X, Maximum = 8.2X / burn time = 8.04.

        12X: Reached @ 47% of burn / Average = 10.4X, Maximum = 12.1X / burn time = 6.17.

Since these tests, I have updated to the 9L07 FB firmware.

The first one is the first burn with this LiteON LH-20A1S. The second one is the fourth burned. Both are the same movie and burned w/Clonedvd @4Xs on TY02-R 8x

As far as I have read, there is no fix for the lead in problem, I know mine time wise is 46 seconds & it doesn't sound like LiteON is listening. If you want to activate your TA Jitter scan at the end of the Disc Quality scan, click Advanced & check the box that says Jitter (DVD), but only for the LiteON, for any other drives you will get an error at the end, which all you have to do is close out or uncheck the box before you scan.

All burned @4x and scanned @4x. I like that last one. Looks like Chewy was right and the drive is learning the media.

New version of CD-DVD Speed released. I hope it's an improvement over 4.7.5.0.

Download Nero DiscSpeed 12.5 : Nero DiscSpeed helps you test the functionality of your recorder and check both blank and burned discs

                          Changes in Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.0 :

                          - Added TA jitter test for recent LiteOn drives
                          - Added support for DVD-RW DL and DVD+RW DL
                          - Disc Quality Test
                          · Improved jitter reporting for LiteOn drives
                          · Added recorder information in statistics window
                          · PI/PIF averages calculated differently (Again!)
                          - Added support for hybrid discs
                          - File dialogs are resizable
                          - Small improvements and bug fixes

@ ipaulo, is that still the 9L05 firmware? The PIE's seem to be coming down quite a bit.

                            @ Dan, thanks, appreciated.

soup that's still the 9L05, I haven't flashed with anything yet. I hope that it's not a fluke and I just got a lucky burn. Well I can't do anymore testing because I already broke my new computer. Hopefully I'll get it up and running soon.
