i used dvd decrypter and did a full erase and that erased the disk fine.

ok when i unistalled the primary ide channel and the secondary ide channel. now when i go back in there under primary ide channel the advanced setting. Device 1 Current transfer mode is PIO Mode. When i check the secondary ide channel under advanced settings device 0 Transfer mode is PIO Only--Current transfer mode PIO Mode. Everything else looks like it should.

This is the problem that led me to these forums months ago. For me, a firmware update, along with burning to quality media solved the problem! (Thanks to the advice of the many wonderful folks here)!

Should have a "drop-down" arrow that will allow you to change that to DMA mode.

Follow chewys instructions, he is leading you down the right path...

i already did that and rebooted. it doesn't change.

Dev manager/IDE Controllers/R click Primary IDE Channel/Properties/Advanced settings -

Transfer mode should be highlighted blue box w/ down arrow at right side. You should be able to select PIO or DMA mode...

transfer mode is "DMA if available" THe current transfer mode which is the next box down and directly under it says PIO Mode.

this is most likely a burn issue

As blu stated earlier, I would think that your movie freezing is a burn related issue, bad media, etc.

That being said, the DMA should be set correctly for optimal performance.

some Dell computers have DMA disabled in their BIOS by default for the second hard disk. So it is a good idea to check the BIOS settings first.

I did find that in a google search - it may or may not apply to your situation; sit tight & let chewy instruct further

I noticed you have Nero API version: 6.6.0.14 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4

Try uninstalling it and and run the Nero Clean tool then install Nero Version 6.6.0.18 click here for
download,Click here for Nero Clean tool. After you use clean tool then install Nero Version 6.6.0.18 and make darn sure incd is unticked

If you bought Nero just use you serial from 6.6.0.14 it's an update and yes it's free

i get this error message. "Nero burning ROM is currently using files that need to be updated. Please close Nero Burning ROM and start the setup again."
