As well, they should burn very adequately at 2.4X and some of the newer ones at 4x.

if it wouldn't boot after adding a drive then your power supply is too weak for safe dvd burning, your dvd burner is slaved to a hard drive, not good.

if dma shows off for a serial drive that's ok

you show 2 pata drives with dma off

which drive is the C drive?

DiskPeripheral : HDS724040KLSA80 iaStor Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On

The DVD is the only drive on the chanel currently. There is a seperate IDE controller PCI card that is plugged into two of the hard drives. the rest are SATA.

I don't understand why I would need more power to burn a dual layer if I have been burning singles layer right along. I guess best way to correct this is disconnect everything but C and the DVD burner and give it a shot. - Without buying new media.

I'm doublecheckin the firmware version now

I guess I'm going to buy some Verbatims but I wanted to post this first.

I burned one DVD ripped with DVDDecrypter with ImgBurn and it failed finalizing and retried and it allegedly verified the disc but I can not read it.

I tried another image but it failed before it got to the layer break. All my hard drives are disconnected except for C (same configuration as the working single layer burn in nero from today).

Any other ideas other then media change?

                    Verbatims Rock - TY Blutach!

I tried everything - reloaded my PC - replaced all my RAM - all my Hard drives and controllers and after a few more bad imation burns tried a Verbatim. Burnt 10 in a row perfectly. I'm returning those garbage disks and getting Verbatim's in return.

Thanks for everyone's help! - Chris
