chewy and gs, thank you both very much, i checked it out and i have the latest firmware, there is no update as of yet, too new....movie just did the same thing, freezing and some pixelation in my xbox, but not in the prtable poloroid player, time to just go get a new dvd player, trial and error for sure, lol.....if it does the same thing ill take it back and get a different model.hahaha. Just joking, a phillips player suggested by another member should suffice adequately. Your opinions and help are very much appreciated, highest regards!

when i check the capabilities spot on the affor mentioned picture by gs, it does not highlight the dvd-rom burning capability for my burner, maybe i should look into another burner, i have another machine to put this one into....any suggestions on a burner?

give that HP a chance, according to the link from cdfreaks, it's either an
LG or a liteon, both good burners. Just promise to not make the mistake of buying a rebrand again.

PROMISE! Been up half of the night researching, but no updated firmware, maybe there is some modified firmware somewhere. I did some scan tests, and the memorex media i was using is far from 2nd generation, as listed, the end result was a 32, also scanned some verbatim i had burned on 77 on that one. Maybe thats why it will only play in the portable player. Ordered TY media last night!!!

often when a new model of dvd burner is released it has growing pains, it's firmware is not mature, for example the liteon 160/165 series had bad issues with dvd-r media, it took a few months for the problem to be solved

flashing a burner is simple, just do it in safe mode

flashing to a liteon, if that's what it is, would be a crossflash

you have to use special firmware for that, if it's available

I would say that's a pretty good start to it's burning career (95). The experts will break it down for you.

Edit: I hate to tell you this & you might want to wait on the Pros of firmware but I think that firmware is about 3 versions out.
