Ok. It´s just that when I read at the forum I get the feeling that results like mine are catastrofal...

Anyhow - about this particular burn, the movie could of course be watched, but there was some... I don´t know what it´s called... in swedish we say pixling... Especially in the menu´s. That´s more disturbing than the results in CDSpeed..

That news does tend to lead towards the quality of the blank media, as long as everything else is right & by what you have done, it sure seems you are set up to have a really good burn. Excuse me if I missed it but have you done a 4X burn with this new burner & firmware yet?

Something has happend with Verbatims -R discs that are sold in Sweden. My burns looked pretty much as yours and I have a similar burner as you do - the Nec 4551. Used Verbatim -R for ages before. I found a test page were they tried these discs with various burners and all that could be bought in my neighburyhood had the same low level of burning results.

I moved over to Verbatim +R media and the burning/playback results are very good. I'm not applying any bitsetting. The best burnresults seems to be to use 12X in burningspeed for those 16X rated discs. I'm using the original NEC firmware.

Try to get a spindle of +R media and see if that solves your problems.

For your remaining 50 discs - If you have something that don't need the full disc - use them for those movies.

            Thanks cynthia, will do that!

And as you wished I did a burn @ 4x and then a scan @ 8x and here is the result (this time the result is better... why is that?):

as expected but change the ecc interval back to 8

good to see the burner is learning to burn better and the new disk was better

Sorry for being a real newbie, but why change the interval?...
