    Is this a good burner...Pioneer 16x Dvr-111?

    It's the DVR-111D
I don't understand ALL the spec on it... can't tell if it supports bitsetting.
Also it's OEM, a problem with these on average?
for $39 seems like a deal on a pioneer.

this one will bitsett right out of the box and does decent scans

free version of nero, supports bitsetting, little too new tho for good firmware yet, probably a good scanner

whoa chewy.. just the wookie I wanted (not only to answer THAT.. but answer THIS also) I own this drive also: https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cg...ted=1077323296

..I know you enjoy making fun of my samsung (it came with the machine) but I forgot that I bought this iOMEGA off ebay or like $20 it's an external usb but should be good enough reading, should it not? What about firmwares for these things? Have a look and let me know I may disconnect that samsung yet.. heh

you need to post the drive id string and firmware to identify it

with 172 posts surely you know how to do that

you might want to get it back out when dual layer verbatim is under 1$ a disk

                    ohh mighty chewbacca

Chewy I need your HELP.... your good in these feilds, but I think your drive to solve a good mystery drive you to this.. it's a good trait to have!
My Iomega is a Super DVD Writer 8x "all format usb 2.0 external drive"...
I was gonna read one from it and then burn it and paste drive ID string to you but there was a problem. (Just incase the serial is Fgae0802ee)
I have used this drive a few times for writing dvds (on someone else'e computer) and my home only used it for making CDs. I went to use it to read the movie and the ripitforme came up, the One click step one screen came up and it was Reading the IFOs.. and then finishes really fast then it seems to "reboot" itself. The dvd info windows again.. and again and again recycles..
it says "Up dating info" then displays the disk info, (titles, DL est size and all that jazz.. like normal) BUT THEN it recycles and says in THAT same window "DVD DRIVE LOCKED OR NOT FOUND?" it just keeps repeating THAT cycle. Never finishes.. A sample of the rip window reads as follows:
(will update in a few this dang forum makes me re-sign in like every 5-10 min so I'll update in a few....

PS chewy... just so you KNOW something about me being able to do things correctly, I have a 2 month old baby girl in my hand that's going thru her first cold, a mother in law that DON'T speak ANY freaking` english from Indonesia (here on a 6 month visa-god help me), a wife that is DEAF we communicate via sign language (this isn't a joke)and a callwave that keeps going off all sounding off at the sametime... if there was ever one person on this forum that needed that help and a ray of sympathy for one second .. of one day and one time.. today is that day and that person is me. I am in NO hurry but these logs were the last burnings I tried with that iomega and upon failure I used the other drive.. maybe you can find what you need here... thank you NOW (and for all your tollerance and guidence in the past and that of now and in the future)

shut down autolaunch and then go into imgburn and use the tools for filter drivers and see if it's there also

google msconfig for win 2k and try to add it to your computer(durn MS)

no point in getting a new burner until you fix your computer

use imgburn to see if you can identify the present burner

                            Ok dude.. done.
I just went ahead and deleted that IO Proburn That auto launch was a pain in the arse each time, I think that is why I stopped using that player.
The only good thing was the Proburn Program I am use to it and it made good compilation CDs for me and it was easy use.
Suggestions for a new replacement for making CDs?
Also since we are THIS far you said in #11 "no point in getting a new burner until you fix your computer.."
Yes ImgBurn SEEs that G: drive (the usb iomega) but getting it to read movie disk it was the problem.. I have msconfig now, what is the next step?
                            ..thanks

see jmet's sticky on resources, (freeing up), msconfig is an essential step in
eliminating conflicts, fixing your computer and running lean and mean

autolaunch can be disabled later if you reinstall that crap burn program

first you need to eliminate a lot of the variables in the equation
