After reading Garys thread I decided to run my own tests and was shocked to see the results. It seems, since I first started burning DVD'S my drive has been having problems at the same spot. (See pic) no matter what media I have used. I took a crosssection of DVD'S that I have burned and what I found was my drive starts having problems at about the 2.8 gig mark. At around 2.8 gigs I watch my scores go from 94%-96% down to 20%-30% range. The crosssection covered first DVD'S burned to the ones I burned last night. The scores were always consistent end quality scores between 20-30%
My question is: is this normal? Has my drive perhaps always been bad? If so what is a very good drive.
Dose the scores really matter? I really don't notice play back problems on my tv's. But non of my TV's are ove 35 inches.
My firmware is the latest. I use good media ty's or verbs. I burn at 4X and I don't multi task when burning.
Thanks
