Well, I haven't used Vista at all, but...

Can't you use Nero 7 to burn audio CD? And, what about Windows Media Player to burn them? Is it included with Vista?

Why not use a free program to burn audio CD's? Plenty of them out there, just find one that works with Vista.

I don't burn much music but when I do I use Deep Burner, rip CD to HDD, load in Deep Burner and create ISO for ImgBurn or burn directly to CD.

Roxio's Sonic Record Now 9 works with Vista I think and was a very good CD ripper/burner. Can do Cd to Cd on the fly just like nero express. That's another choice for you though not a Freeware. I don't use Vista so i can't tell you how it performs with that environ.

Have you tried itunes? This version says it works with Vista. Not sure if you can copy on the fly. But I know it will allow you to transfer songs off the original into your library, then burn those. I have XP and this is what I use to make custom CDs. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305042

I found these directions for vista

You have to find the directory in Program Files. Right mouse click on the application file and choose properties. Select the compatibility tab and select WIndows XP SP2 and select the Run as and Administrator check box and you are good to go.
              would someone verify please?

I just finished reading that also Chewy.

If that option is on Vista for a small burning app, I wonder why so many compatibility problems with other small programs?

Hopefully some Vista users can shed more light on this.

Guess this is the tab being referred to......

I used compatibility mode for a while with windows xp, but it was hit or miss

sometimes you had to install in compatibility mode

anything requiring low level drivers was a mess

kind of like apps that require aspi

Yes I remember having a mess or two when I switched from 98se. I'm not ready for another one of those just yet, and that was years ago.

Nope. Just audio. I knew that ImgBurn worked with Vista. The only thing on the market that I have found that does NOT work with Vista, is anything prior to Nero 7.
