I did some more burning. If you look at the disc creation png, I have these spikes of activity causing a dip in burning activities. The big dip at 3350MB is when I turned on Process Explorer. I got no resulting spike in PIFs there
When process explorer was on, it was hardware interrupts that is causing the dip in speed. Is there any way of figuring out what is causing these hardware interupts??
The process explorer png that is attached is the current one. I turn off at least 7 more applications before burning.
If you only have one hard drive and an older weak power supply that might cause the drops, the bad end of the dvdinfopro graph is what has me puzzled,
looks like bad die spread at the edge of the disk
The power supply was replaced in February 2007 when I had problems with the USB externals. Both externals were turned off during that burn.
The scans in my last post are of the SAME disc! 2 very different results. If I scan the same disc 2 times, I will probably get 2 different results.
Remember that my son had a CD-ROM explode in this drive. I believe I got every piece out. It took me over an hour to remove all of the visible fragments.
This is just a puzzle to me. I have been looking at the scan thread at CDF and a lot of people have those burning dips when doing Verbs.
I had some 8X Verbs and they were super! So when I ran out, I bought the 16X. Well, they suck! The DQ scores on the 16X have been significantly lower than the 8X. I would guess the dye is better on the 8X.
I did burn the 8X at 4X and got super burns. But the 16X at 12x and 4X leave little to be desired. Oh well, I got some Memorex sh*t to play with tomorrow too.

When I was using Comodo I noticed that frequently the cmdagent.exe was maxing out my CPU...I ended up deleting and reinstalling, blah, blah blah. I now use Zone Alarm and don't have any spikes or other issues that are noticable to me.
"I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person. It's not fair to you and no challenge for us."
I decided to change burning programs. And the hardware interrupts have been minimized. I was watching the burning speed and it was rock steady. (Note: I was viewing actual burning speed)
What is interesting was the results. 16X is as good as 12X
