got all the way to writting the lead out after 13 minutes, almost made it?

    then

    PMA update failure
points to a controller driver problem(that emulation software?)

    another damn variable?

I'm confused what you mean about this emulation software. What is it? Is it to do with the sata hard drives? Because at the moment all ive got attached to my pc is the ide hard drive and the dvd writer. Also I just burned a different brand of media (a dvd+rw) and it burned sucessfully. This is the log:

here's an example of what a standard driver package gives without some sort of emulation driver

        === Scsi-Device-Map ===
        CdRomPeripheral : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On
CdRomPeripheral : BENQ DVD DD DW1650 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On
        DiskPeripheral : WDC WD360GD-00FNA0 35.0 UlSata Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off
        DiskPeripheral : ST3250823AS 3.02 UlSata Port 2 ID 2 DMA: Off
the ide motherboard shows as port 0(ide 1) and port 1 (ide 2)
the sata hard drives show dma off and ulsata

it's beginning to look like the other disks are bad?

SPTI - Error 5 on DismountVolue: Access is denied.
something is running in the background

download imgburn and try a burn with it, I don;t trust nero 8, especially if you were running an earlier version and got a bad install of nero 8

Can I only burn images with imgburn? Is there a way of burning data dvds with it? If there was I would never go back to nero again. I always use imgburn to burn images and I have tried it with these cmc discs and it has failed several times. I'll try again and save the log this time. In reference to nero, I'm not using the normal full package of nero. I'm using "nero micro" which has everything stripped from it apart from nero express and nero burning rom. Its a extremely lite version of it and runs really fast. Is there a way I can get rid of this emulation driver somehow?

Imgburn will do just about any kind of dvd, data or video. The build mode takes video compilations and makes an iso on the fly if you choose your recorder as destination not hard drive. Same scenario for a data dvd.
Post a filter driver load order just in case that nero didn't pick up some crap running on the system bus.

erm atapi.sys and storprop.ddl? Whats the controller chipset? Yeah I think it might be the cheap ass cmc dvds. However my friend who has a NEC dvd writer and he hasn't had one coaster and he bought just as many as me lol. I assume my LG writer doesn't like them.

Have you loaded this chipset driver?

I wonder how the bios is set?

Do you mean the Chipset / LAN / SATA RAID driver? I havn't loaded that since I've had the 2 sata hard drives in my pc. Shall I install it? My bios is currently at the latest revision (F7) what other settings should I check there?
