this is just a guess/wild speculation, but I have seen evidence of corrupted firmware before, unfortunately this kind of thing is hard to pin down and impossible to duplicate, usually associated with a bad flash, maybe a power glitch/surge?
I doubt very much that samsung's new firmware was that much better than the previous versions, I am getting ready to reflash my benq 1650 with old firmware, maybe cosmic rays corrupt it?
