New firmware updates

Is it highly suggested to upgrade to the latest firmware for your burner or stay w/what you have if it's working? If upgrading can you go back to the previous one if the new firmware doesn't work right?

Firmware updates are supposed to fix issues, but if you aren't having issues.....

You should be able to rollback to previous versions if needed.

Loco thnx. Tried searching here and was at AD also. Figured that much a lil. What's up w/downloading firmware updates in safe mode? Really necessary? Read a few posts on here about that.

I ALWAYS update to the latest firmware updates. New firmwares are supposed to remove the old bugs.

That is not to say that new firmware updates won't introduce NEW BUGS, but it is always better to remove the old bugs and replace with the new bugs.

Ok. Thnx. Both my sammys have new updates for firmware. I just downloaded the firmware for my sata sammy to my desktop. Tried opening it up but windows says it can't because it doesn't know what program created it. I got the update from the firmware page link that Imgburn takes you to. Any suggestions on how to make this happen?

Well researched the forum and started in safe boot to try and open this new firmware update and couldn't. Need some help here guys. I was able to update the Pioneer a while back but now I'm lost. Is there a Guide here or on the firmware page that shows you how?

How? Windows won't let me open the file. It's saved to my desktop. Should I move it somewhere else? The utility won't work if I can't open the file.

Firmware page says no RPC-1 firmware yet. Would this have anything to do w/it?

First do you suggest upgrading to the latest firmware? Or do you wait till something isn't right? On samsung's site they have sb03 already. On firmware page just sb02.

Got Winrar. Extract it where? to another folder? to the drive? I'm lost. Don't know a thing about this whole extraction business. I have the compressed folder from samsung on my desktop. I have winrar. Now what?

Chewy winrar doesn't open anything. It justs extracts to archive or whereever else you want it to. I can't find anywhere in that program mwhere you could open this file. This is too complicated. I didn't have to do all this when I upgraded the pioneer 112d firmware.
