Do the burned dvd's play in the laptop drive?

Hello and thank you for taking out the time. As for the dvd's...The dvd's that did work in my home dvd player, are able to also play in my laptop dvd player. And the dvd's that DONT work in my home dvd player...DO play in my laptop dvd player.

Have you checked your laptop manufacturer for a firmware update?

Have you tries any better media like sony or verbatim?

But first I would try playing the problem disks in another standalone, often that turns out to be the problem

I would understand trying some of your ideas but let me explain...

The burned dvds did work on the same home theater dvd player up until a certain point....then for whatever reason, it will not play any of the burned dvds anymore.

If it was the firmware, then it would have never worked....this problem all happened within about 1 month or so....First it worked....and then it stopped.

As for the media....I would try that if I was NOT able to play ANY movies at all...but it did work with the tdk dvds so it cant be that.

I do appreicate your suggestions, they are good ones, but they dont apply to this.

The only thing I could think of, is if its possible that one of the dvd burning software or etc might have messed things up...like could installing anydvd casue this problem?

If it was a driver/filter problem, usually the nero log would pick that up

I would check out the player, why is it playing in your laptop but not the standalone player, dvd playability is like trying to get an overloaded airplane to take off, if everything is right you have no problems, if a lot is wrong then sometimes you can't take off and it crashes.

I have troubleshooted a few hundred problems like this, try another player

try better media

laptop burners for the most part only do a marginal job to start out with

TDK is not a good brand, I could probably make them work with a good burner and player

I never have all these problems

If you only knew how many people have said the same thing, "it can't be that" only to later find out it was "exactly that". You have several things that could be the cause, as Chewy pointed out, but until you actually bite the bullet and buy some better media, you may chase this problem for a long time. Then think it's fixed, only to find that it appears again.

Do yourself a large favor and start by trying some different media, such as TY's, Verb's, or even Sony.

These old eyes might be deceiving me, but I didn't see anywhere that the Dvd+R was booktyped to Dvd-Rom. From what I have seen so far, you are getting solid advice. I would also suggest giving ImgBurn a shot.

Once again thanks for the advice thus far. If you could please explain the following...

You all mention to try a different media and/or try a different regular dvd player....BUT...if the problem was the media then it would have never worked in the dvd player...this is what I;m trying to explain...is that the same media brand, TDK worked for a few days but then for no reason, any new movies that I burn, will not work.

If it was the media why would it work and then stop....the blank dvds dont have an expiration date on them. Please explain?

burned dvd's go bad, they all do, some start very good and with proper care last a decade

some barely work on good players when first burned

you are generalizing. simplyfing way too much, this is a complex equation with many variables, it's rocket science, brain surgery and mountaineering all rolled into one

the players are one of the variables, they all go bad sooner or later

I would agree it could maybe be the player but just recently I burned a short clip movie of a standup comic mabe 45min long and it worked just fine and it was also on the same blank TDK media.

This is what I mean, for some reason lately all full length movies I burn dont work. Any other ideas....I mentioned about installing Slysoft Anydvd....could that be part of the reason why it stopped working?

OK, the shorter length burn would never reach 8x speed, so that tells us something

Let's kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone, download and install imgburn, don't worry it won't mess up your computer like nero 8 does

You have way too much running resident already
