hardware accelerated playback quality?

now for some unknown reasons some dvds show better quality without hardware acceleration, why is that?
these dvds appear very soft (means there contrast/color/sharpness are very poor) just remoivng hardware accel. turns those near died quality dvds to live.

problem is most identified when using "media center editon" and or "media player 9", but not so on either windvd 5 plat. or nvdvd.
iv never used both at once nor using any other codec . mostly uses nvdvd.

System:
Athlon XP 1800+
512 mb ram
ATi Radeon 9200 128 mb
XP media center edition 2004, dx9b,all hotfixes

Logic would dictate that, for best playback of DVDs on a PC, one should use programs SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to playback DVDs - software DVD players, such as WinDVD, etc.

winxp media center edition's 'media center program' is a specifically made for DVD's isn't

If you're referring to another lightweight Microsoft-bundled program, I'd suggest that you take the word "quality" into consideration.

I assume your "smiley" is indicative of the fact that you KNOW it's not in the same quality category as WinDVD and similar commercial software...

yes ur right i found that while using windvd/nvdvd that its better to use a specific dvd player thats not frm microsof

its just that why o why someone waste his money on XP mce when the quality is not even close to other dvd players. perhaps one should be better geting remote for windvd

it also is known that windvd comes with its own
handler for the direct x and especially for the
direct show routines... while the microsoft products
mostly rely on the WDM drivers installed.....
