    Thanks Guys, one of the local vendors (electronics) in my region says he has codes for several samsung players, and if he has the one I need -P231- (and if it works) I'll be happy to share it with the forum...

      If region hacking is illegal, then I wouldn't have named this forum "region-free" now would I

      Region free may only be discussed i assumed but i didn't i want to know if its allowed or not distibuting hacks in here.

        this has been a great help, so thanx for all the info.

        apex is a very cheap brand in the US, and i have a samsung multiregion VCR which is very good so i know that's a decent brand.

        meanwhile, i used my toshiba 4700 for the first time last night (i've only had it 2 years!) and had a real battle sorting out the sound. the background sound was more prominent than the foreground sound, then it went in and out. drove me nuts until i figured it out on the tuner remote.
