You may well be right with your earlier thought on fragmentation and background tasks.
My DVD creation is mostly recording Digital Video Broadcasts and unless I have a 100% error-free conversion in PVAStrumento I always try out a ReWriteable first.
If a ReWriteable works in the player without stuttering but your ±R won't, then it's gotta be the media?
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

Latley i played a backup of my dvd which was originally 8.2 and fitted it into a 4.7 using shrink.I burned with nero and when i play back the some movie parts stick or lag ??
I think its the media you and I may be using is dodgy.
Try this: write an ISO image of the Shrinked DVD with ImageTool. Burn with Decrypter. Be sure to use the same media as before.

The idea is to bypass Nero. Let us know how it comes out. It worked for me.

I will do it that way warrlen ,10nkx for your suggestions.

Which application can do images (iso) of the files in your hdd.

I have isobuster but can only extract images and create images of dvds and cds and not directly from hdd.

Whoops!! The name of the software is "ImgTool." You can get it here or here.

              Get the Classic_0.91.3 version.

Extract the program files to a directory not more than 1 level below the root directory.

Your ripped VOBs and IFOs must be in a VIDEO_TS subdirectory of a folder on your harddrive. An AUDIO_TS subdirectory (empty, of course) must also exist in the folder.

By the way, decryptit, I have not been able to create an image of an unencrypted DVD with ImgTool. If isobuster is freeware, I'll give it a try.

Isobuster is verygood to extract many types of images but it will only create images from discs and not from your hdd.

There is an older version, 0.89, that has a copyright issue.

Since we are using iso ,then in dvd decrypter i have to set it in iso mode right ,but then will dvd shrink accept iso images and will then shrink the whole dvd into iso and not vob's.

Rip the DVD regularly, either with Shrink or Decrypter. After you have prepared the files as you finally want them (for example, by compressing them in size), THEN prepare the ISO image with ImgTool. Set Decrypter to ISO WRITE mode to burn the ISO image.

You mean that ImgTool can convert your vobs into iso ?

ImgTool will take a HARD DRIVE directory containing AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders (with VOBs, IFOs and BUPs in the VIDEO_TS folder) and will prepare an ISO image of a fully functional DVD on the hard drive. That image can then be burned to a DVD disc with DeCrypter.

The point is, make the DVD files that you present to ImgTool as finished as the files that you would burn with Nero. What you present to ImgTool is what will eventually be burned to disc.

                            Give it a try.

In a few words you will skip the burning with nero hoping that the iso will work better.10nkx man i will give it a try and reply back.

I've been led to believe from posts that the latest DVD Shrink will 'Open Files' from hard drive and output a shrink through 'output device' to an ISO file for Decrypter to write.

btw PVAstrumento is the defacto conversion tool for Digital Video Broadcast's mpeg2 Transport Stream to DVD compliant mpeg2 Programme Stream.
