VOB to RealVideo with Premiere or similar

    Hi.

I'm on a quest. A search for the True Path, a solution to an Actual Problem, an honest-to-God Real Issue. So I hope you can help me, cause I've been searching for a solution to this for a looong time... :-/

    Here's the setup. I have:
    • Sony DCR-DVD201 Handycam (records to miniDVD)
    • miniDVD-compatible DVD-drive
    • Windows 2000 Pro SP4 (important! not XP!)
    • Adobe Premiere 6.5
    • Experience with video-encoding and computing
    • Lots of money (aka. money is not an issue at this point)

    Here's what I want accomplished:
    • Import .VOB-files directly from the finalized miniDVD into Adobe Premiere.
    • Cut, trim, edit video with Adobe Premiere.
    • Export as RealVideo.
    • EOD.

I'd be willing to pay for extra codecs, plugins etc., hence the "money not a problem"-point.

Here's what I'd be willing to settle for, should the above not be accomplishable (is that a word?):
    • Exporting from Premiere to e.g. MPEG or similar in order to frameserve or encode with external RV encoder.
    • Use some other piece of software than Premiere, as long as basic editing capabilites are present in the new software (but believe me, I've tried most by now).
    • As a final resort, use a simple tool for converting VOB to MPEG or AVI and import to Premiere.

But The Mission, as it were, is to achieve the VOB to RV conversion through Premiere.

    Can it be done?

    Thanks,
    G.

      Export as avi from Premiere.
      Encode to RM in WinAVI.
      Just a suggestion

I'm not really sure that it is, but I see you've started a topic.
I hope you get good responses.

It's possible to export to RealMedia in Premiere via a plugin. Still can't import .VOB-files, though - it reads the contents wrong. Haven't found a solution to that yet.

in case you got no other input source, you could convert those vobs to some loss-less avi format in order to be able to import it into premiere
