DVD backup problems towards end of film

Every time I burn a dvd and playback on my standalone dvd player the film stutters or freezes in the final few chapters. If I watch the final chapters only they are fine. The DVD media i've been using is aone full face printable. Nero CD-DVD reports the media as TYG02 which I understand is Taiyo Yuden so they should be good quality disks.

I've ran Nero CD-DVD speed and get 100% green blocks also I am writing
    at 4 x speed.

I see from ddlooping's recommendations that I could try different media but as the problem only occurs when the dvd is warm I guess it's a heat problem.

Are there any fixes for an overheated player? (Tatung TDV-2000)

Alternativley could it be because i'm using printable media (i haven't been printing on them only writing film title with a permanant marker), would purchasing unprintable (plain silver) media potentially resolve my problem?

I don't think those are real TY's, made in japan or china?

real ty printables with tyg02 mid code are pricey in the UK
Dedicated to providing tech hardware and services to end users. From individual users to corporate customers, we work hard to provide outstanding, personalized service. Products range from ink cartridge tablets to servers! Pricing and products to meet every budget.

edit: confirmed fakes made in china, at best clones

made in xxxxx will be in chinese

    no ty hub code either

Many thanks for your quick replay, and subsequent investigation.

How can I establish "made in xxxxx"?
The cover has some chinese symbols, but for all I know they maybe Japanese.
Also how can I find the ty hub code? (or more importantly what does that mean?)

No worries, i shall find other uses for my budget disks and source some quality disks before further dvd back-ups.

try in some other players, do you have a burn log, part of the problem may be your burner and it's firmware

I got burned on some TY clone/fakes last year, made in hong kong, they burn ok in my LG burner at 4x, the other 3 burners usually make a coaster

The disks used to work ok in my PS2 but recently the same problem has started to occur in that. (No probs in my pc dvd.)

Here is the burn log, notification of any problems you identify would be appreciated.

No worries, i shall find other uses for my budget disks
you may be able to use those "iffy" discs for small burns; I had some CMC junk that froze towards the end of the movie, so instead of tossing them, I burned 30 min. cartoons, etc. on them that only used 1/2 the disc.

They play fine, no freezing as long as I don't burn close to the outer edge. Not sure about long term, tho. Probably won't hold up, but for everyday use is okay.

But, as Chewy stated, best bet would be to get better media.

                    Garbage in = Garbage out

                    Just my .02
                    regards, katz

Cheers for that, also good idea about shorter file length.

                      To update on progress:

DVD+R do not work in my DVD player, doh! (Tatung TDV-2000 I know it's old but it has good sound) they do work very well in my PS2, wahoo!

I'll try some good quality DVD-R, the only problem i've got now is it seems that disks aren't sold in singles anymore, (not good ones anyway), the fewest I could get in my local maplin was a 10pack. At least they'll all come in for some use or other sooner or later.

Got some Verbatim DVD-R mcc03rg20 (£20 for 100) from Maplin in store offer, bargin.
They work perfectly, thanks for your advice.

Strangely my Verbatim DVD+R MCC 004 wont work at all in my DVD player but my freinds RitekG05 DVD+R do. The media guide rates these as 2nd class, is this not strange for my DVD player to play some DVD+R types and not others?

he might be bitseting to dvd-rom and burning slower?

                          g05's have a bad rep

there's a fellow here with one of those pioneers that got firmware to bitsett?

I think you have to move to 111L in order to bitsetting single layer, which I did ( auto for DL only)

                              You're right 111D won't bitsett.
Thanks for the info about flashing 111L firmware, but I cannot dload it from here any suggestions?
