now would be a good time to try tdb's region free firmware

and then see if dma stays

I know it's a pain but that older combo drive should never have even been put in the computer

the LG's weakness is region control and lack of scanning besides being a oem model with poor firmware support, I would keep it for the combo and get a samsung or liteon dvd burner

ok so i went to that link and did that. that seemed to do the trick for now. what should i do with the other slave drive. should i go and install it again? so you are saying i should get a new burner as well correct?

give the lg a while by itself and if dma and region free stay good then hook the combo back up, at the first sign of trouble dump that older combo
