To be honest I have never finalized a disk without the standalone under these circumstances.

I have found however if your disk is not finalized you can get that information from imgburn.

Just pop your disk in, open imgburn and the info will tell you the the disk status.

I have attached a screenshot of what I am am talking about from an unfinalized disk from my standalone recorder.

This would be a good start. If this is the case I am working on how to extract the info from an incomplete disk to the HDD.

        hi,
thanks for all the feed back guys. i tried running both programs and included screen shots for both imgburn and isobuster. it looks like the disc is appearing like a blank disc to me, but its not, i can watch a full two hrs of home videos when using my standalone.(???)

most standalone dvd players won't see an open dvd recording, but it is possible for them to read a badly burned disk that a computer drive won't even see????????

try some other drives, that pioneer is getting pretty old

firmware updates are like "the king's soldiers", they can't put humpty dumpty back together again, a cleaner might but why pay 10$ for a possible solution when a new drive is so cheap

course I have been known to disassemble a drive and refurbish it. mostly just to be able to say I did it, the first few times were not so successful

for pata the samsungs seem ok, pioneer also

nothing lasts forever, well maybe older lg dvd burners
