that's because jpg compresses real life photography best, (eg pictures of people, nature, cars, etc), while png does text/drawings/line art

take screenshots of say dvd decrypter, and compare them. the jpg should have many compression artefacts around text, while the png will look perfect (its lossless). the png should also be smaller in this case

@anonymez - I missed it too. you explained nicely

@Thanks Chetwood!!! I just did a test of the screen capture of this topic using Screen Hunter. ScreenHunter saved the capture as a 93KB file I loaded it up in Irfanview and converted it to png from jpg and it went up to 242Kb and both were 800X600. No more converting ScreenHunter capture jpgs for me...

Yeah, but I don't advertise it. A join cdfreaks referral link in my sig here would go over just as well as a join digital digest referral link there I'm a moderator in the Standalone LiteOn DVD Recorder and Player Forum.

Additionally you can skip using Screenhunter by pressing ALT+PRNT, load up Irfanview and pressing CTRL-V to paste the active window.

ScreenHunter has an option to choose a rectangular are of the screen also instead of the full window or the active window which is a very nice feature. That is why I use it.

Windows Media Player has to be the worst thing out there for playing DVDs.
Not if you have Nvidia's "PureVideo". Looks dam nice.

nowadays mpeg2 decoders are very similar in PQ, only difference is deinterlacing. that said, purevideo does the job pretty well.

but it doesn't change the fact that wmp is crap no matter what's playing. audio/video filters & splitters are doing all the work

How do you attach a .zip file in this forum? I don't see any attachment option when posting. I see "insert link", "insert image" but nothing to attach a zip or log file.
