Windows XP and media payer 7 prob!!!!!!!!!!

well look this is the deal, i used flaskmpeg 6 preview, and divx 5 codec with double pass conversion. my mp3 codec was set to 128. nothing wrong so far. Now after i ripped and converted L.A. Confidential and try to play it in Windows Media Player 7.1 it locks my machine. It works fine on the divx 2 alpha player that comes with divx 5 codec. It also works fine playing windows media player on win2k. but every Xp machine i try to view the movie in windows media player it on locks me. NOW CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT THE F__K is going on. I'll make sure to kill bill gates for this one

Use Windows Media Player 6.4 instead (Run the command 'mplayer2.exe'). It's proven to have given less trouble than its bloated younger siblings and more versatile as well.

p.s. WinXP come with WMP 8, not WMP 7. Not that it matters to me at all...

              Hi,

I had a similar problem with this but I was having sound sync probs and lock ups wmp. I found the alpha playa to be unstable
as well if I touched it after I had started a movie.

I know use radlight and don't have any probs at all, works a treat

why dont you answer the question whether or not using WMP6.4 makes a difference before complaining any further?

nobody said to uninstall wmp8, but running 6.4 instead!!

                  run => mplayer2.exe

alrght this is obviously to hard to read

check the titles on my other replys. you see the one that says 'yeah mplayer2 works'. I thought that would have been self-explanitory. regardless yes mplayer2.exe does work, but who gives a shit. since you are the moderator maybe you can find out the deal with the windows media player 7 mention in the article http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/ar...dvdtodivx.html sorry about te link earlier. I also would like to know if others agree that it could be flaskmpeg .6 that is doing this shit

                      Strait from Digital Digest Admin

WMP 7 does not properly support all the playback features of the DivX
codec, since it does not support the tuning of codec advanced settings (eg.
quality settings). It will play back the DivX file fine, although WMP 7 is
probably one of the worst pieces of software (in our opinion), as it uses
up too much resources for what should have been a simple media player. WMP
                      6.4 is our preferred player.

If you are using Windows XP where WMP 7 is your only choice, then there is
                      nothing you can do.

sorry, i actually overlooked the hint in your title that mplayer2 works.

and being a moderator/experienced user means i dont care for software that is known to be the worst choice.

I'm sure you'll be more pleased with the quality that GK and nandub gives you. Far better than Flask.

By the way, it's hard to keep on liking the flashier WMP 8, when WMP 6.4 has the better compatibility and versatility. Oh well. Each to their own.
