    TMPGEnc can't find audio

When i open a avi file in TMPGEnc it only finds the video part of the file. The file plays just fine in Media player etc. Virtual dub says the audio is

    Unknown (tag 2000)

i also know from the files originator that it is

    448 kbits 5.1 ac3

i have every bloody version of av3 codec installed plus the latest nimo release (build 8)

is this codec a dolby one.

if a rip the wav out of the file in vitual dub my audio programs can't canvert it to pcm wave. they say i need an acm driver.

    Anybody got any clues?

TMPGEnc will not accept .AC3 audio for input when creating an MPEG1-VideoCD.

**IMPORTANT - VirtualDub v.1.4AC3 is a specific MODIFIED version of VirtualDub!

Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub v1.4C-AC3, set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying" and select (under "File") "Save .WAV/.AC3" - and save as .AC3 (IMPERATIVE to save as .AC3!).

Despite the fact that .AC3 file extracted using VDub-AC3 doesn't play properly, PX3AC3Converter will do a perfect job of converting it to .WAV format.

      Thanks loads mate.

Do you know where i could get a copy of vitual dub 1.4c - ac3.
Its not that i'm lazy its i just can't find it.

I've got 1.4.10 but i'm not sure if that supports ac3

You can use VirtualDub 1.4.10 to do the job...
