Divx 4.0, 5.0

I have just boughr me an dp500 dvd player witch also can play divx 4.0 and higher.. i have only one problem.. most of my movies are encoded with divx 3.11.. is there any way that i can convert from divx 3.11 to divx 4.0 or higher....

1. Open AVI file in Virtual/nandub
2. Set Video tab to Full Processing Mode
3. Set Audio tab to Direct Stream Copy
4. Under Video, select Compression and choose the DivX 4/5 codec. Input the appropriate bitrate such that the final AVI filesize will be around the same as the original AVI. Choose 2-pass encoding mode in order to minimise loss of quality.
5. Go to File -> Save as AVI and give a name to the new file

I using only divx 5.02 codec for all movies. Works perfect. Also 3.11 encoded should work with that codec. No need for re-encoding.

the problem is that lars dp500 will very likely be a standalone palyer, which will most definitely NOT support illegal codecs such as divx3!

thus he is forced to re-encode the material

Yeah! Seems so. For me there's no need for stand alone player. My computer is connected to TV and I can watch movies in perfect quality on it. Theres is one good software colled TvTool.

I read somewhere that Kiss players came with a converter (software app) to convert v3 to v4. Did I dream it? Anyone read anything???? It seems you at least didn't get it
