    movie encoded too short

    Ok i'm stumped....i recently encoded Braveheart using gordian knot....to date it is my 14th ripp....I have atempted this movie twice now both times the file ends up 1.2MB instead of 1.4MB and the movie ends at 1hr39min instead of 2hrs12min???
    If at first you don't succeed get a BIGGER hammer !

    maybe the ripped files on your drive are not complete!?

      Try parsing the VOB files using Flask and encoding with it. Flask usually works in circumstances like this.

        well i know i have comlete vobs cause when i load the dvd2avi file in gk...i forwarded to the credits on the second atempt too make sure i had a complete movie..

          OK, so the movie showsup OK in the preview window, in GKnot, but the outputet avi file is too short ?.

                re-install gk + divx5!


                for your next go, you should consider using Bi-directional encoding/b-frames in particular for a long title like braveheart!

                ~900kbps isnt that much so bframes might help a great deal!

                to spare you some further hours for the FIRST pass, you might stqart your second run using the log-file from pass 1 in case you havent deleted that.

                  That might not be a very good idear, the log file indicates that both the first and second pass fails after exactly 142721 frames.
                  I would suspect that there is a problem with the source at this point. I suggest loading the file E:\Movie-Rips\Ripper1\Braveheart.avs into virtualdub, and take a very carefull look at the frames around this point. If you can't see any problems, try marking a very short clip around frame 142721, and encode that with divx5 1-pass in virtualdub.
