i recorded mp3 in avi, but it erased the original soundtrack. is it possible to record mp3 in avi, but in such way that after recording the original soundtrack can be detected?

1. Open AVI in nandub
2. Set Video and Audio tabs to Direct Stream Copy
3. Set the Secondary Stream to Full Processing Mode
4. Under the same Secondary Stream, select your MP3 compressor and configure accordingly
5. Go to File -> Save as AVI and give a name to the new file -

Alternatively, you can do as UncasMS suggested. Extract the original soundtrack using the following method:
1. Open AVI in nandub
2. Set Video and Audio tabs to Direct Stream Copy
3. Go to File -> Save WAV... and give a name to the new file
Now that you have the soundtrack file extracted, convert it using an MP3 encoder, such as LAME, keeping the original file intact (ie. undeleted). Mux both files into the AVI using nandub.Comment
