A lot of media players will have the option to capture a frame in a given video stream they are playing. For example, PowerDVD can capture a frame from a DVD video it is playing, and BSPlayer can do the same with video files.

Unless you've got a dead "PrintScreen" key on your keyboard, pressing that key makes a copy of your entire desktop to the clipboard (Holding down the "Alt" key while pressing the "PrintScreen key will capture only the active Window). If you then run a graphics or paint program, simply select "Paste" to create a copy of the image...
