    The Two Towers vITE splitting problems

    I downloaded both parts of the VITE version of the two towers, i believe in DivX 5, not sure... great quality, want to burn to video-cd, but the problem is the files are too large. So i try to split using Virtualdub, but the audio/vid sycnh goes horribly out of wack. I found some instructions on how to solve, but it seems that it assumes that the audio synch is constant, whereas mine is not (sometimes the audio is ahead, sometimes behind). ANY idea how to fix this junk? different program? Im new at this so i may be horribly off.... THANKS!

      is teh audio vbr? if it is, try splitting it in nandub. But if you want to use tmpgenc,

      1} Load the file into NANDUB
      2} Set video file menu to "direct stream copy" and audio file menu to "full processing mode"
      3} File-->Save Wav then save with a .wav ending
      4} Restart NANDUB
      5} Load the file back into nandub
      6} audio-->wav audio then open the new wav file
      7} Set both audio and video file menus to "direct stream copy"
      8} file-->save as avi. save with new file name and be sure to have the .avi ending.

      from there continue to cut your file and make a vcd.

      the reason you use nandub is because it supports vbr audio, as vdub doesn't. Niether does TMPGEnc.

                  Okay... the files are widescreen, but the burned vcd is not only upside down, its fullscreen, so it looks "squished"... Whats a boy to do? SVCD? what is the difference between that and regular vcd, will that help, and how do i do it?

                    I don't know anything about upside downness, because that has never happened to me. Maybe it could be a compatibility issue, like you dvd player doesn't fully support svcd. I would make a VCD, not an svcd. Not too much of a quality difference for my vcd's.

                    as for the *squished* part, in TMPGEnc, go
                    settings-->advanced
                    change the aspect ratio to 4:3 525 line NTSC(or if you are in the PAL world, change it to 4:3 625 line PAL

                    Change the setting to "fullscreen (keep aspect ratio)"
                    see if it looks like your original avi by going
                    file-->preview
                    remember, in the preview mode, there will be no sound

                          is this the preview, or the encoded .mpg?
                          because in the preview, you don't get sound...

                            ..

                            This is the encoded Mpeg... Ive read elsewhere on this board that the sound for this file is in AC3, which TMPGenc dosnt like...it also says projected file size is like 180% the size of an 80 minute cd.... the file is only 400 mb/ 40 min! why so large? Maybe a different program that works with ac3 sound? Im beginning to think this isnt worth all the craziness.. if ANYONE has successfully encoded VITE version of Two Towers in ANY way, please post!!! thanks for all your help, chickeneater

                              Maybe a little late, but are you sure that you have a vcd template selected? It looks like you have a dvd template.
