    Xvid problems

    When encoding an Xvid type avi file into either VCD, VOB or Mpeg2 why does the audio stream not run concurrent with the video stream ie, the sound is either behind or infront of the video(this is worse in some files than in others)
    The same problem occurs with both tmpgenc and Neodvd

    Any ideas anyone?

    1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

    By the way, if your problem has to do with a downloaded file, you really should have posted it to the brand spanking new "p2p" sub-forum here ;>}

      thanks but........

      thanks, however i doubt that the original file is to blame (or is it?)
      it appears that the audio/video sync occurs during encoding. The audio compression for the file is labelled as Unknown(tag 2000) by virtual dub which i believe to be ac3. i already have tsumani etc codec packs

        extract the ac3 sound stream and convert it to wav and load this wav as audio source into tmpeg.
