    DIVX 5.02 Jerky Scenes

Hello I am a newbie to encoding dvd into divx please help me.

    I am using: PC - Pentium 4 (2.5 ghz)
    Divx pro 5.02 codec
    Zoom player

    encoding movies with Goridian Knot

I am getting great quality movies, perfect image and sound quality but my problem is this:

on some panning shots the movie seems to jerk, i.e when the movie zooms in from a distance to a close shot, or pans accross a landscape etc it seems to jerk.

    Please can somebody help me.

I am enabling gmc and light in the Divx encoder.

i am always going for a 2 cd (700mb cds) movie.

I use an AC3 sound file (just one) and don`t bother with subtitles.

I have no idea about the filters. I am using the current version of Gordianknot and havn`t changed anything since I installed it, so I using whatever filters that uses by default.

Is this problem of jerky scenes one that can be solved? By applying a certain filter? Or is it just a price to be paid?

Please some help from u guys.

      Thanx

first of all i am nOT sure what your problem really looks like. thus it might be a good idea to post a screenshot.

second i never like gmc much let alone ever use PE

did you try without those mpeg4 options?

OK the picture quality is perfect, I don`t think posting a screenshot would be of any use.

The problem is: on shots where the camera pans the scene quite slowly it seems to jerk as if it is missing a lot of frames out.

I have never tried without GMC or PE (light) as the tutorials advised that these would only enhance the quality. So I will try encoding a movie without these enabled.

Is Gordianknot OK. Which tool would you advise as the best all round encoding tool for DivX?

          Thanks for your support.
