Look this is simple and not so simple, the deal is, i like to watch movies in .avi format in my computer (divx compression, mpeg, etc) the fact is that i'm using the earlyest version of windows xp pro that means with no service pack installed. Using the system as it is with no sp1 and no directx 9a i can watch all the movies and formats in the market (with the help of nimo codec pack) but after installing either directx 9a or service pack 1 some of those movies wont work at all not even sound, not even with the same codec combination used after the dx9 and sp1 installation.
So my question is ¿what changes so much in dx9a or sp1 that makes some of those formats or compression styles impossible to run or watch, and what can i do to solve this?.
