I am perfectly happy with the previous ALPHA version, namely ffdshow-20030103. Its decoding result is the best so far of the few FFDShow versions that I have tried and in fact matches or even outclasses the quality of other decoders.

I have not yet tried this newer version yet however (been busy with other things), but I have high expectations of this version.

speak of the devil and here he comes:

realised massive playback faults with the LATEST ffdshow!

scrolling though some old divx3 low mo conversion i was confronted with playback errors similar to interlacing lines.

i installed the ffdshow version from jan 3rd and the faults are gone!

thus i stick to the PREVIOUS version not the latest build!

                Hmm . . .

I will still get it installed just for sake of trying it out (and trying to reproduce the same errors). That is, when I have the time and mood to tinker.

FFDSHOW is good, but it has problems decoding divx 5.03 or higher and xvid with qpel. However, I'm pleased to see FFDSHOW is being worked on and taking into account the new libavcodec

The newest build seems to have a generally crappier result when on auto processing.

Not very important, but you can think of the libavcodec as the basis on which FFDSHOW was created. Newer versions of this codec fix some playback problems.
