DVD to CD in ONE CLICK???

Well, I found a website tonight that offers a trial version of their "DVD to VCD/SVCD" software. And no, I'm not advertising for them. This is just knowledge I'm sharing with you all.

Supposedly, the program can rip, encode, and burn a DVD Movies to VCD or SVCD in a one-step process. Personally, I tried to do this with a 2-minute movie trailer, and had no success. However, it DID create a 25mb .BIN file.

I'm really curious if others out there can try this software out, and submit some feedback. For a 400k application, it sounds almost too good to be true.

why dont u try freeware dvdx1.4b (latest version 1.6)?
it makes mpeg1/mpeg2/divx videos in 1 step, u just have to burn them as vcd/svcd afterwards.
Some say that ripping with 10 different softwares (i just cant believe that anyone can love this *lol*) should work with better quality, but i am very pleased with this software at all.

I´m using DVDx 1.6 and I can tell you:it´s the best "one-step-tool" I know download it on www2.labdv.com!

Yeah DVDx is a pretty good program if you don't have a lot of time to fool around with other programs. But I still save the audio as PCM wave and then later load the video and audio into virtual dub to check a/v sync and then compress to mp3. When I did it directly to mp3 with DVDx my video had a/v sync problems. Also I use a bit rate calculator to get the right bitrate for my video but somehow all the videos I've made with DVDx came out quite a bit smaller then expected or calculated. I've used the same codecs and calculator with dvd2avi gui using mpeg2avi and the video size was larger and more accurate. ????? Beats me.

Ok, I use DVDx all the time. I know it's a great program.

I'm trying to find some more information on this Dup-DVD program. I would recommend downloading their Trial version, and trying it out.

It's supposed to do everything from ripping, to encoding, to burning to a CD-R, with ONE click. Look at their screenshot on their website. You'll see what I'm talking about. I had little success with this program so far, but I was hoping some others could try it out and submit some of their results on here.

I have purchased dup-dvd and you will be glad to know that since last 48 hours I have not yet made a single vcd or svcd.
Please do not spend money on this till you hear some good comments from someone.
To make svcd it estimates 29 hours on P4/1.7/128mb. To make vcd you need 15 hours. As soon as I get success I shall let you know. I am disappointed with the support too. Ask any question, in reply you get a link to the faq they have on the site.Couple of people have been successful in getting a vcd out of dvd but I wonder that with what time and efforts!!! Instead of so called "one clik" I would rather go with divx or some other good one clik product.
I will be glad if someone can help me get my $39.95 worth...

if you're looking for a very good tool to create svcd/vcd, my best bet is:

DVD2SVCD

it is extremely simple and offers incredible quality

1.st it is absolutely free, thus you should try it asap

2. i'm an mpeg4 man not mpeg2, thus i dont dare promising/verifying you every single detail but if you use cce, it will approx. take half the time i've read about in this thread (i.e. 5-8h)

I tried to download the DVDx program but they want money.But anyways,why make vcd movies when you can have better quality with divx and in less time.It takes me about 3-4 hours for one dvd movie with divx4.I have an athon XP1600+ and 512MB of memory.What I mean is you can with a little practice make your own movies without needing any "one-click" software.I was using the one click guis and stuff before,but when an error occurs in your movie,how are you gonna correct it if you don't know how it was made.If you try by yourself,you have more chance of discovering the error and correct it.Becides I repeat that making divx movies step by step on your own,gives you more on quality and time,than any other tool (at least from what I have tried).I would be glad to help anyone who wants to start making divx,just contact me.

But I believe that divx files will not play on the normal dvd players.
So I can only see them on my pc!
Can you suggest any other software for making svcds? I would like to go by dvd2svcd as suggested by UncasMS unless you have any reservations about it.

I have tried to make a svcd with DVD2SVCD. I successfully made an svcd but it does not at all play on my standalone VCD player. It plays with jerks on my pc. Play...pause...play. Sometimes large pixels in the picture.
Picture quality and others have come out well. On the encoder tab I used Tmpgenc instead of CCE. CCD need almost double the time.
CD I burned through Nero at 1x.
Is this seem to be a conversion problem or burning issue?

in case you used the normal routine within nero to burn Svcds, it shouldnt actually be a problem that stems from burning the file.

i have not used dvd2svcd with tmpeg (tmpeg as a single tool worked fine, however) and thus i guess you used the wrong settings.

If you use dvd2svcd (excellent program) make sure you have the latest version (build 2) and use cce for svcds. It does a much better job than tmpg. BUT use tmpg for vcd (actually is better than cce). If you use the default settings you should be alright. If you get jerky play, sometimes this is caused by too high a peak bitrate. Lower the max bitrate a little and try again. Also some players need to have the audio down sampled from 48k to 44k for svcd. Find the same place where it was jerky in the svcd you make and make a test clip trying this and see what happens. Stick with it - its a great program.
