    Major Problem for me

    Hi all, I am having a problem with a movie that i have acquired through various channels which shall not be disclosed at this time. On my computer it works great, with excellent quality. It is an .avi file which uses the Morgan Stream Switcher audio codec and the DivXG400 video codec. Now when i go to play the same video at another computer (my laptop) it comes out all fuzzy with greenish blobs in the video. The codecs are the same on my laptop. I click on properties in WMP and they are the same codecs being used as those on my original pc. I am totally stumped. Is there anything i can do?? Thank you

      (The Morgan Stream Switcher and DivXG400 are auxiliary filters and not the primary audio and video codecs used to play the "mysterious" .AVI)

      In order to determine which codec(s) you need for a particular .AVI, you should do the following:

      1) Load the video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

      2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

      3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

          This is all the info.
          The sound is not the problem...just the green junk in the video.

              Update your laptop's video adapter driver.

              If problem persists, try installing FFDShow and configuring it to play XviD contents.

                      having installed ffdshow xvid is NOT neccessary

                              ffdshow is the bst playback solution imho for many formats like divx3,4,5 - xvid - ms mpeg4 v1,2,3 - and many more.

                              thus for pure playback all one needs is ffdhsow.
