OGM is a newer container format that is far superior to avi.
you cannot tell by the extension which kind of video and audio format was used for the content.
in many cases you will an mpeg4 format like divx5 or xvid for the video part and ogg vorbis for audio.
every player will play the file if you have the apropriate playback filters/codecs installed.
i'd highly recommend FFDSHOW to be installed as playback filter to play all formats!
moreover, you will need to download OGGDS0995.exe, which is some 0.5mb in size and contains the ogg direct show filters.
both can easily be found via google.com
