            more details.

I do not have access to my control panel...
            my pc is locked...
I found these details trying to manipulate windows media player.
            windows media player version 6.00.02.0902
and that the native codecs to windows is as follows:

DSP Group TrueSpeech Software Audio Codec
            Intel Indeo R3.1 Video Codec
            Intel Indeo R3.2 Video Codec
Microsoft Adaptive Delta Pulse Code Modulation (ADPCM)
Microsoft Interactive Multimedia Association (IMA) ADPCM
            DSP Group Truespeech Software
Microsoft Groupe Special Mobile (GSM) 6.10
Microsoft Consultative Committee for International Telephone and Telegraph (CCITT) G.711 A-Law and u-Law
            Microsoft PCM Converter
            Microsoft RLE Video Codec
            Microsoft Video 1 Video Codec
            SuperMatch Cinepak Video Codec

does anyone know the compression ratios for these codecs?
I'm also looking for a compressor that will encode into these formats.

I'm looking to add audio and video support to a locked down pc.

I want to avoid loading new codecs, but want to play movies and music on my new pc.

I found the native codecs this morning. I want to convert some of my files to a supported format that is comperable to the compression of mp3/divx. I want to prevent manipulating my pc and do not want anything to show on some sort of install log. Even with these restrictions I do want to exploit the full power of the native codecs.

Do you know if any of the listed codecs have a comperable compression ratio to mp3/divx? If so what encoder will work for it?

The research I've made so far is that the audio versions are comperable to compressing a lossy quality just under the size of a .wav this is not acceptable for my needs.
