How do I get audio from DVD? What software do I need?

I want to make ringtones for my phone from parts of movies on DVD. I need to get audio off of the movie into .mp3 or .wav format. Can someone please walk me through the basics, and what software I will need?
    TIA

BeSweet can extract wav's out of DVD's .lst or .vob
I don't know if it can do it directly of encrypted DVD's or if you first have to rip the DVD to HD (with SmartRipper or DVDDecrypter)

In BeSweetGUI you can also set start and end points

        1) Use DVDDecrypter to "rip" (remove copy protection and then copy) the DVD to your hard drive

        2) Use MPEGMediator to save audio as .WAV (Uncompressed PCM) audio

why dont you download a normal/clean version and give it a try?

smartripper 2.41 works like a charm for me.

dvd2avi extracts all sound streams you like and besweet is the best tool for converting the extracted soundstream to another format such as mp3 or wave.

The latest update to TMPGEnc allows you to create separate audio and video files from the source.
