Stand alone dvd player wont play burn

    Hi everyone,

First posting so i hope this gets some responce.

Got my first burner last week (a nec 1300a with firmware 1.05). Burned some movies wich i downloaded from Kazaa (.avi files) and watched them (even edited some and encoded the avi to Mpeg2 with TMPGenc). Now i captured some video (from my VCR) with my pinnacle TV capture card (oke the audio is out of sinc but i am testing some of the sollutions posted on the board here).

My biggest problem is that my stand alone DVD player doesnt read the DVD i have burned (used nashua DVD +R`s) The File is in .AVI and is about 3.5 gigabite. I also tried burning a version which i encoded to Mpeg with TMPGenc. Media player plays them both so did Divx player with the avi file (didnt test the Mpeg).

I use Nero 6.0 Ultra for burning. When i select the burn dvd movies it says DVD files compliance test failed. Resulting DVD files might be unplayable.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it!!

    Thanx in advance,

    Ksannie.

    The File is in .AVI
hardly any dvd player will play an avi file

if you burn a file to dvd and want to have it played on your standalone, then make sure the file is a dvd comliant format and burned properly to dvd

What would you suggest to be a DVD compliant format and what program can i use to encode the files i get from my TV capture card.

I know .vob files are dvd compatible but with wich programe do i encode the TV capture card output to .vob (or any other dvd compatible format).

I hope you have an answer.

either convert to svcd or try to capture as mpeg-2 with the card and software you've got

conversion from e.g. avi to svcd can be done with tmpeg or dvd2svcd

encode the captured video with tmpeg to a DVD MEPG2 file then author that file with a VOB auhor program etc..loads out there tmeg DVD author for one then burn with nero using the dvd video option should work every time if the audio is a problem try using a different capture prog been using WINDVD with no probs
