if the mpeg is mpeg2, i tink u can extract it with an older version of DVD-Decrypt (extracts audio from DVD-Vobs, but should also work with mpeg2 streams on your HDD). But that will give you a
.ac3 File, with which u can nothing do, as far as i know (except u include it again to an .avi)

    have fun
There is always a way u can handle it...

depending on what type of mpeg you're talking about, load it into tmpeg and use the tool section to demux or use virtualdub's save wav - which means saving the audio stream no matter what format this stream actually is.

        Another way :
you can record live (internal) through your sound card (cool edit,...)
        then burn your .wav
[use only if u can't extract easily sound channels from the mpg]

        last thing to Fruitmaker :
        .ac3 files are usefull !!!!
        check out 'ac3tool' from BlackSunSoft.

in case you were talking about extracting just the audio stream from your vob file, it is of course easily possible to do so.

use vob2audio to extract to ac3, wav or mp3
or dvd2avi to extract to ac3 or wav

a little more info on vob2audio can be found in my guide
