GREETINGS TO ALL!...I need a hand, in few issues...

    Hello to all,
...my name is...well, you can use my nickname "lupus". I'm living in Athens, HELLAS ("Greece").

Friends, I have "a couple" of questions for you. I need help. I'm NOT such a "HOT-SHOT" in video editing...

    Well, here we go...

    1. I have many .mpg/.avi/.wmp and I want to encode them
to .vob, 'cause I like to watch them with my DVD player and I
want to DELETE them from my hard disk (they're using TOO
MUCH hard disk space... HOW CAN I DO THIS? Which program
    I have to use with?...

    2. I own 290 DVD movies... All they are region 2 with "greek"
subtitles, EXCEPT 3 of them! "The Crow" (region 1, NO
subtitles AT ALL), "12 monkies" (region 2, english subtitles -
among some others), "Deep Blue" (region 1, english subtitles
ONLY)... So, what I want? I want to ADD subtitles to these 3
DVDs! Of course, I understand it's VERY HARD WORK to do, but
I want to do it ANYWAY!... So, how can I do this? Which
    program I have to use?

    3. Is there any program that adding subtitles AUTOMATICLY from
the audio? 'Cause I watched a "screener" movie with
subtitles, obviously automaticly added, because there were
    some language errors...

    Well, that's for a start.

PLEASE, give me a clue. Give me a hand to solve these problems.

    Thank you.

One set of procedures (other posters may/probably will suggest alternative methods) would be:

    1) Use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert the .AVI (DivX-compressed or otherwise) to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this

    2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (a different program than "TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)

**If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress

If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
(As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use "DVDLab")

    Let us know of your success ;>}

For question 3 that sounds more like Closed Caption that you say because CC always gets a ton of errors.
        Cheers!

            Hello to all,
            ...thank you too, "TRION".

My dear "setarip", I own over 300 ORIGINAL films, in DVD format! And, as you may know, Greece is the MOST EXPENSIVE European country, compare with the greek salaries (500 EURO first-start salary, 900 EURO -> medium rank salary...)
That's why GREECE is the "region" of CD/DVD etc. PIRACY!
So, the "screener" I told you was "The Two Towers" and a frient of mine gave to me to watch it, as I was waiting the Special Extended Gift Box Edition to show up in the stores...

I don't support PIRACY! Every music CD and every film in DVD I own, are ALL originals! Not because I'm fool - 'cause ALLMOST EVERYBODY here in Greece are buying COPIES, because there're so cheap, not because I'm sympathizing the companies' rights...
Is because, what I love and want to own, I want it original not fake. And originals have beautiful covers, layouts, booklets, gifts etc.

Hope you "get the picture". Thanks again for your help.
