I'm Currently a newbie at this sort of thing but I've been interested for a while now. I found myself staring at 15 different types of product on the shelves ranging from $40 -$400. I want something durable but not commercial and I was wondering what is good way to go as far as the hardware for burning? (Sony, Samsung ...)

I have a LiteOn 832s and 1633s which are not the newest LiteOn's but they take a licking and keep on ticking, and there are plenty of utilities out there that can make them do tricks. Not registered Go here and click register to join the Digital Digest Forums

I have 2 PX716A's
2000 burns ONE coaster with TYG02's
Plextors are expensive, but if you want something that has great media test results for the best value, go with a Benz1640. Half the cost and posts almost as good results, not sure if Benz has bitsetting or if there is patched firmware for it.
I would buy an AOpen1648AAP Rom drive with the Plextor though. That combo (always used with the latest firmware, NEVER fails to rip and burn flawlessly)Comment
