Thanks for watching DAFT, part 2 will be up next Friday.
I did forget to put the cast list in the post. It stars, Daniel Alan Kiely (Richard), Ria Filippakis (Pam), Jeff Smith (mysterious man) Nichole Lavins (Kelly) and Elizabeth Anne (Marylin Monroe).
"By the way, I smoke cigars so it's not a problem."
so wanna talk sequel, or what?
"One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Jack The Ripper - 1888 Columbo moments... "Double Shock""The Greenhouse Jungle""Swan Song"FORUM RULES "You try to contrive a perfect alibi, and it's your perfect alibi that's gonna hang ya." (An Exercise In Fatality, 1974)
I can't tell if I'm being made fun of here or not. I'm pretty new and I don't get all of the laughing emoticons and stuff.
There won't be a sequel to this (as of now) but I am in development on a feature I'll be shooting next summer. It's called SERVED COLD and you can read a little about it on my site www.maptorch.com under "What's Burning?"
you'll get used to the communication in here. This forum has very respectful members so I'm sure that nothing was meant to offend. I was really impressed and look forward to your next installment.
First I want to thank you for keeping the file size reasonable. So many people assume that everyone has broadband, some of us don't get a choice and are stuck with dial-up. Anyway, I thought it was interesting, and will likely d/l the next episode, but I do have a few criticisms.
Continuity, in the first close-up of Richard's notebook during the credits the page is nearly full, in the following shots, he's shown writing the page that was initially shown.
Cinematography, the notebook is shown alot in the film but it's hard to read due to the angle, lighting, etc. If what he's written is important to the plot, let the viewer read it without straining (the shot in the park was much better). The steadycam work was good for the most part, but when he first sits on the bench in the park there is a long zoom shot that bounces all over the place.
Thanks for watching and offering such in depth critisism. It's so hard to get people to talk seriously about your film.
That opening sequence was editied to be out of sequence and was supposed to give the viewer the idea of what is going on under the credits. I think there wasn't a clear enough deliniation between that opening credit sequence and the beginning of the film to really sell it though. As for the writing on the notebook, I just wanted people to see that he's writing down details of the people around him, so if they just catch, "lunch, park, black boots..." it's enough to drive that home. On an actual TV or movie screen it's much much easier to see the words on his page.
That zoom drives me crazy. I really wanted it in because it's my Stanley Kubrick zoom, but the camera was on the steadicam and that was as smooth as they could get it for me. I probably should have cut it out.
Thanks again for watching and talking about it with me. Look for Part 2 this Friday.
Also, see if you can figure out what is going on, or what might happen.
