Which Media Player Do You Use?

wow.. you do need a lot of visio-audio features.. if i didn't know better (i don't..) i would say you use your media player for brainwashing POW hehe..

so far i have needed none of the above features.. guess that's why i'm not out there hunting for new players.

BTW.. have you heard of the "lister" ?

I really dont have a reason why I use Power DVD I guess cause its there

The thing I like with VMP is that you can get the structure of the DVD on the right side. While you press a button in a menu - you can see how it jumps to the various titlesets.

If I want to test out subs and tracks - that is easier (I think ) to do that in Nero Showtime.

I have never watched a movie on my PC

But have done over 300 Hrs of video and viewed that many times.

I have my own Media Player. It evolved from a Visual Basic text
search and Picture archive over the last 3 years of videoing ,to
this media Player.

I basically want to see the video I shoot, to verify the results.
To check how the lighting affected the scene. To see what I've
captured. I often hold my Mini DVD Camcorder way over my head
on the tripod or down by my knees as I hurry along a bush trail
behind my trapper friend.

It can play back those burst of still pictures digital cameras do.
with a delay of 1/10 second or some such between each.

All I need is a Camcorder a PC and this Desktop Search /
MultiMedia Player. Well maybe a projector would be nice.

It can do thumbnails of a few seconds from each video clip.
It can show these thumbnails randomly by file and start point.
This is a great way to verify a DVD was burned. Show a few seconds.
A great screen saver too.

I include it on any MPEG video I backup on DVD. It's set to autorun.
If I take along the camera codec. I can play it on anybodys PC

Being able to start and stop in any video clip. I never really do any
editing and thus don't have a computer filled with mini snippits from
the original.

With DVD backup 5Cents a Gig I can just shoot and shoot for next
to no cost.

mpc is my main viewer, power dvd has a use too. it loads slower but won't lag and stutter like mpc when heavy multitasking.

I use PowerDVD 6 (both on my monitor and projector).

Have you found that turning on and off subbies in PowerDVD 6 through the subtitle menu does not work (although it was perfect in v5)? It works fine if you push the ... button on the console though - cycles through the subbies. Or is it just me?

and i am doing hdtv encoding right now, while wathching a dvd, in vmr9, with ffdshow 'assisting' playback with raw video processing, which is much more cpu intensive than overlay (~65% load consistently on my pc, as opposed to ~10% without ffdshowand vmr9)...

Yes, I noticed. The first subtitle track gets automatically selected (there is a tick next to it). However, I have to select display subtitles in the PowerDVD menu or the way you do it. I just noticed that the powerdvd menu also appear when right mouse clicking on the subtitle console icon.

used tobe powerdvd 6 but for few months wmp 10 with nvidia decoder, now purevideo decoder, that has vmr 7/9,.......... never liked windvd even the newer one.

Yeah I would thought they would.

I now use Media Player Classic on my laptop but still use a combination of MPC and PowerDVD on my main PC.
