don't worry it seems 98% of this forum's members can't burn a good memorex disc either . you can definetly do better that's for sure though. all depends on your software, firmware, drive etc. it's best to match up your media to your devices.

This would be a misleading poll using just DVD brand names. There are only so many DVD manufacturing factories around this world. Just because Phillips has a DVD doesn't mean they make their own. It is common for big companies to sub-contract to DVD manufacturers and the way is should be to tell where they were made is in the media code within the DVD.

Here's one scenario to ponder on. Phillips and Memorex may have their DVDs made solely by one company, CMC MAG. It is the same DVD but with different labels. Person 1 in City A only has Phillips available at his computer store and Person 2 in City B only has Memorex. Imagine if both took part in this poll and selecting just brand names and nto knowing that they are essentially the same DVD within.

I guess memorex work good. They do play fairly well in my xbox, just never in the dvd player.

Correction: Not media code but manufacturer code.

I never had anything but problems with the memorex..I use Maxell and they work great for me... I would say upwards of 95%-100% burns..I don't rememer the manft. code but I know they are Ritec ...I did get some from Radio Shack ..they are nexxtec..printable..when I used dvd identifer it said they were garbage but they worked pretty good for me...but I stick to Maxell I get a 50 spindle for about 18 bucks..so not too bad me thinks...

Ridisc DVD-R brand with Ritek G04 dye. I also have unbranded silver DVD-R's with TDK TG02 dye.

I use Philips DVD+RW's with Philips dye and not CMC.

memorex has worked really good for me both +/- r. for some reason I can't get maxwell or tdk to burn over 2x.

I almost always burn at 8X and it works great for me, I did burn at 4X but somehow my system changed it to 8X and I was too lazy to find out why and change it..and it seems to work for me...
