what does device manager say? any signs of unsuccessful installation?
USB connection, I am going to go through it step by step this afternoon using his instructions to see if he has missed anything. But I thought in the meantime someone could throw some light on the subject. I will check the device manager with him when we speak on the phone ( he is 70 miles from me)JohnComment

hmm
- make sure that usb ports are enabled in your friends bios
- it could be possible that the cam only works with usb2.0 and the connection your friend tried/used/has available is only usb 1.1!
(maybe the mainboard specs will useful)
- maybe another pc/laptop might be a good idea to test the cam-acccess!?
- when does he get an error?
- which application is he using to access his cam?
btw: a remote access can be very handy when dealing with other peoples problems a couple of miles away ^_~Comment
