Yes they are great. Get the 16x DVD+R's, those are MCC-004, a great MID.

            LOL

Relax I was kidding. I had read the link and I meant, In your opinion, was it worth a spindle of worthless coasters, or a spindle of usable media.

6 old burners = value of one spindle premium media
              bad media is worthless

and I was generous in valueing the old burner

Hi Photo Angel I have had a run of over 10 bad ones in a row before but those were memorex and sony iirc (I use a lot of blank media at work, was not on home computer). It drove me nuts because I kept grabbin a new one and nada, I thought my drive was bad. If they are indeed bad, I have found that the company will exchange them (at least the ones in my experience). Good luck.

with such an old burner, you have to be real careful trying to find old slow media that the firmware supports

and since verbatim has declared 8x media obsolete

After looking at the newest posts to this thread have have taken a closer look at the other blank DVD's taht I have I thought they were 8X disc's the lable on the container does say 8X . How ever in the center of the disc it says 4X. I thought I remembered my burner being able to burn up to 8X. I thought that I remembered buying it 1.5 years ago I guess I was wrong. ( where does the time go?) I always burn at 2X for movies so I guess I just wasnt paying attention to that. Ok So I bought a new burner. ****Optorite DD1205
The on I have still works great though I found my receipt and I have actually had it for 3 years. Right now the 8X discs are more common to find around here then the 16X. so I will proably put the new burner in my sons pc and get the Optorite that can burn at 16X.

Like I have said before i tend to over look the simple things LOL
                    thank you,

Ya I did not take the Verbatim discs (DVD-R 8X) back to the store.
Instead I bought a new DVD burner. Optorite DD1205 was going to get the 1603 but there is not much difference and out of stock on the 1603.

Once this DVD is done burning I will instal the new burner and the DVD's are proably good. LOL .

The parts that suck is the burner I am using now works great just outdated with media avalible.
The new burner should solve the problem.

Do you really think that the Optorite is not a good burner?
Or is it just that it is old?
