Well,the result will not b gr8.But this is a way to do it:From ur VCD extract the mpeg1 files using VCDGear or Isobuster.Take these mpeg1 files in TMPGEnc Plus and make DVD compliant mpeg2 files.Now use these mpeg2 files in TMPGEnc DVD Author to make ur DVD.Burn using whatever u like e.g Nero.

You cannot copy directly, you will have to convert your VCD source to DVD.

Convert your Video to MPEG2

Convert your Audio to 48000 Mhz (MP2 or AC3)

Then encode with Menu's using DVD tools like DVDlab Pro.

Tip: You can directly use DVDlabpro without the conversion process. Your video will still be MPEG1 and DVDlab will upscale your audio and encode a DVD out of it.

But this is not as per DVD standards therefore, you need to check playback compatibility with your player first.

1) no software needed to get VCD on your pc. open disc with explorer to view files. copy and paste the .dat's to your HD. rename all extensions to .mpg.

2) if the VCD files are 29fps (like a t.v capture say) no conversion needed.
load right into tmpgenc dvd author and author>burn. Otherwise i like paglamons suggestion of tmpgenc plus to encode first, then author.

VCD video is always DVD complaint, just that if it is 23.976fps, it will require a 3:2 pulldown. The audio always needs re-encoding though, since it is 44.1KHz and DVD requires 48KHz. TMPGEnc will resample, however if you don't have the AC3 plugin then you won't have AC3 audio.

Renaming a dat to mpg doesn't remove the riff/cdxa header. Not a problem as long as the tools you are using are ok with it.

I beg to differ Celtic, DVD compliance for Video is MPEG2 whereas VCD is MPEG1. Using MPEG1 in a DVD is non-compliance of the DVD standards.

DVD standards do allow for MPEG-1 it just isn't that common.

change it mpg as already mentioned, open it in virtualdub. go to file>file information and find out the frame rate.
